On March 31,, Downtown Toledo will wish Jim Mayweather a happy retirement. While we cannot prove it outright, we think that Jim is our oldest, active employee in downtown. In April, he will be turning 90 years old.
Jim has worked at the Bell Building as a security guard for 27 faithful years. He has always greeted everyone with a smile, an open door and a friendly welcome. Jim is a friend of everyone who comes to the corner of Madison and Erie Street. He has given countless umbrella escorts, provided first aid and made everyone feel like family. To top it all off, he has only called in sick three times.
When asked what advice he wants to pass on, Jim said, “Never come to work with a chip on your shoulder. Always be positive.”
Jim is going to miss Downtown Toledo and our tightly-knit neighborhood, and stated that he has been “blessed”. The feeling is mutual Jim!
